Sling Blade C-17 satcom terminal developed with R4 Integration; To Support C-17 airborne enroute satellite communications requirements

23 Jan 2024 – Get SAT an innovator in lightweight satellite communication terminals for ground, airborne, and maritime applications, today announced that it has been awarded, in partnership with R4 Integration, the premier provider of airborne roll-on/roll-off communication systems for U.S. and partner government aircraft; a multi-million-dollar contract by a U.S. Government agency to provide satellite communication for C-17 aircraft.

The Sling Blade C-17 is a flat panel, fully electronically steerable antenna (ESA antenna) part of the ESA family, known for its super low profile and reliability. It operates in the Ka-band with no moving parts, thus requiring no calibration and offering long-term reliability with lower maintenance costs. It supports transmit and receive for GEO/MEO satellites and can switch from different satellite orbits, ensuring satellite coverage anywhere, anytime.

As an integral component of the C-17 aircraft’s communication system, the Sling Blade C-17 enables a broad spectrum of communication functions. This includes transmitting live video, secure phone calls, video conferencing, and access to essential networks. These features are especially vital for military operations and VIP passengers who require consistent and dependable communication channels during flight.

“The C-17’s enhanced communication capabilities are a game-changer.” Said John Parsley, President of R4 Integration, Inc.: “This system revolutionizes in-flight enroute communication, turning the C-17 into a pivotal communications hub, even in the most congested environments. The deployment of this technology on C-17 aircraft symbolizes a leap forward in operational readiness and global communication capabilities.”

Kfir Benjamin, CEO of Get SAT, states: “This collaboration with R4 Integration exemplifies our commitment to innovation in airborne systems. The integration of the Sling Blade C-17 terminal is a testament to our shared vision of advancing military communication technology. Together, we are setting new standards in operational efficiency and capability for the USAF. This partnership between Get SAT and R4 Integration marks a significant advancement in military satellite communications, reinforcing both companies’ dedication to modernizing and enhancing the communication infrastructure of the U.S. military.
